On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Steven was killed.

To Steven's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Chief Fleming gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on November 1, 2013.

Officer Fleming,

Rest in Peace with the Lord,

To Your Family,

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over two years. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.

Another senseless loss of a good man and Officer. Watch over your wife and child from Heaven, as only a husband and father could do. Your fellow Officer's will continue to honor your memory and service at this end. May you rest in peace.

Chief Fleming,

I am thankful to you for the opportunities that you provided me. I learned so much working for you over the past 9 years and I could never thank you enough. You and former Chief Dunlap made my dream of becoming a Police Officer come true and I will never forget that.

Its amazing the things we take for granted and never realize it until they are gone. It just wasn't supposed to end this way. As a Police Officer you just never expect that someone you know will be the one God chooses to take home and when it happens there is nothing that can ease the pain and the emptiness left behind. The whole situation seems so surreal. I was speaking with you less than 30 minutes before the accident. I, along with so many others, are having trouble accepting what happened.

I told Maegan that her and her mom (your wife) Kim have been adopted by the Police Department and they are now ours to look after. They are in good hands and I know you know that. They will not want for anything if I have anything to say about it.

God speed Chief Fleming. May you rest in peace and may God bless you and your family.
