Bingaman.... It is hard to see your name and picture up on this site for fallen Officers. All of us here at APD are experiencing an incredible loss. Everyone knows how much you loved your work - serving the citizens of Asheville. People are talking about how you always served with pride and enthusiasm.
I remember times when you worked around my disctrict on my shift and would ride out to see if I needed any assistance on a call. You always answered my questions and offered to help any way you could. It was evident you cared about your fellow officers and about your service. I remember you taking a lot of time out of your busy schedule to assist a team member of mine in getting his radar certification. Thank you for your service and for your example as a Police Officer.

My heart is heavy for those who were very close with Rob. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and his co-workers, team members and academy mates here at APD.

Rest in Peace, Brother!

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Robert was killed.

To Robert's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Bingaman gave to his community and the citizens of North Carolina, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 29, 2013.

My son was his brother in green as well so I thank him also for his service in the Corps and bid him semper i
