Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Senior Police Officer Robert A. Bingaman

I'm not very good with words sometimes, so I thought this poem would say it best. We'll miss you Bob!

Where do they go to?

Where do they go to, the people who leave?
Are they around us, in the cool evening breeze?
Do they still hear us, and watch us each day?
I'd like you to think of them with us that way.

Where do they go to, when no longer here?
I think that they stay with us, calming our fear
Loving us always, holding our hands
Walking beside us, on grass or on sand.

Where do they go to, well it's my belief
They watch us and help us to cope with our grief
They comfort and stay with us, through each of our days
Guiding us always through life's mortal maze.

Rob, I know that you left this world on Tuesday afternoon knowing that you and the rest of the men & women on the APD Traffic Safety Unit I considered to be "my" sons & daughters. You always treated me, your coworkers, your family, and the community with the upmost respect. I am so proud of the man that I watched you evolve into during your career in law enforcement. I know that I will make it through this tragic event, but for now the tears will not stop flowing. What is giving me peace is knowing that you are in a beautiful place now, resting in the arms of our Lord as your work is done here. You will never be forgotten and your death has changed my life forever.

Rob I still can't wrap my head around that you are gone. We spent a lot of time talking and laughing at the Shell during your long shifts of secondary. You helped to carry me through a very dark time in my life just being you. We spent a long cold, rain filled weekend getting our MSF certification and we did it. We never did get to ride together but now I feel safe you'll catch a ride on my shoulder. Remember "friends don't let friends ride without bells" I may not have a bell but I sure have an angel.
