John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

To the family of the late Rodney Thomas I would like to say, I am sorry for your lost. I feel your pain. I am the best friend of a fallen officer Rodney Johnson (Houston, Texas 2006). My prayers are with you all. I am sure that he's missed by you all and at times it might seem like it just happened yesterday. I know that one day you all will meet again. God bless and may peace comfort your heart. Annette

To the family and friends of Officer Rodney Thomas and to his fellow officers:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Rodney died.

To Rodney's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Rodney Thomas gave to his community and the citizens of Louisiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 7, 2013.

Worked In The 2nd District Together During That Time In the City Of New Orleans When A Vast Portion Of Our City Was In Engulfed In Water And Things Seemed Uncertain. But The Police Officer You Were Still Stepped Up To Help And Protect The Citizens Who Were Without Food, Water And No Means Of Transportation To A Venue Of Safety. From That Time On You Showed True Stuff. Though Your Passing Was Sudden You Well Not Be Forgotten Not Only For The Shield And Sword Of Justice You Carried But For Your Willingness To Help Not Only In The Call Of Duty. May Gods Good Grace Shine On You And Those Who Were To Call You Friend And Family.

Rodney you and your smile are dearly missed by all who knew you. Granted I only met you once in passing. We talked for a while like old friends catchhing up however, that's just the kind of person you were. Always willing to stop and help someone no matter what time or day.
Rest easy my friend and it was pleasure to meet and talk with you in that chance encounter.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Rest in peace.

For Police Officer Rodney Thomas:

The law-officer at a crash scene is in added jeopardy performing his duty. To be off-duty and making the attempt to keep others safe is individual dedication and performance at it's very best. We regret that Rodney would be the next law-officer to die through the actions of a coward and a scoundrel who would hit another and run neglecting to aid the injured. Those that would help the perpetrator in hiding and cover-up have reserved themselves a special place in hell. We praise those who investigated and bring justice for Rodney.
We pray for Rodney's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to each other in the days ahead.
We are proud to render Officer Rodney Thomas, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.
