Words cannot begin to describe just how important Shane was to the members of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Shane was more than a Master Deputy, he was a shining example of how one should live every day; both personal and professional. With a dashing smile and a contagious attitude, he would inspire us all to do our very best every day; to give that 110% and then some!

He was not only a Brother of the Uniform, but a mentor, a leader and most importantly my Friend! He was one of the most self-less people I have ever known, a true living-definition of the word “Charity”. And a true warrior for the children, a dedicated advocate for Justice when they, the smallest and most helpless of victims, needed someone to fight for them! Always a Sheepdog, keeping the wolves at bay and protecting the sheep!

It greatly saddens me to think he is really gone not just for our Agency, but for the true joys in his life….his Family! He was one to always make a reference to someone about his children and how he was a proud “papa”! We here at the PCSO were only blessed that his family shared him with us, as he truly was a blessed gift!

As cruel as this seems that the Lord would take him away, I know in my heart that Shane is in a better place. He is in a place where sickness and stress are no longer a factor. He is now among our other Brothers in Arms, helping to provide a place for us in a new home under the direction of “The Most High”. I can think of no other person better suited for such a task!

So let us not be in such sorrow for long, and let us rejoice in this that we will see him soon! Let’s remember him for who he was and how he touched our lives, how he brought us joy and laughter in times of grief. How he always was able to show us that the glass was ALWAYS ½ full!

It is with a broken heart I now say ”Farewell” to one of the best people I have ever know! May you find Favor and Peace on your journey home; your Father is waiting!

TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND COLLEAGUES OF POLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, MASTER DEPUTY JOSEPH "SHANE" ROBBINS.

My heart is filled with great sadness at learning of the lost of your loved one and fellow Sheriff's Deputy.
We in the law enforcement community are a family.
Though we may wear different uniforms and have different badges, shields, or stars pinned upon our chest.
We consist of many different agencies from across the nation, for we are:
Municipal Police Officers, Sheriff's Deputies, State Police Investigators, State Highway Patrol Troopers, Conservation Officers, College Campus Police Officers, Correctional Officers and Federal Agents just to name a few.
We patrol small towns, large cities, college campuses, county roads and state highways.
Whether active duty or retired, we are one family, a law enforcement family, brothers and sisters bonded together by HONOR, SERVICE and PRIDE.
Daily we honor our fallen brothers and sisters never forgetting their sacrifice.
Daily our position is clear that we will SERVE and PROTECT our communities without faltering and with no hesitation.
Daily we show pride in our chosen profession LAW ENFORCEMENT, for we willingly walk the line of GOOD over EVIL facing the unknown with COURAGE keeping our trust and faith in GOD.
We know that evil roam these streets and at any moment in the course of performing our duties the ultimate sacrifice might be required of us in the service to our community, for LAW ENFORCEMENT is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.
MASTER DEPUTY ROBBINS
You did not die in vain
You sacrificed your life in the service to the citizens of Polk County in the State of Florida with Honor, Pride, and Distinction.
I'm proud to have worn the uniform of a law enforcement officer like you did.
I'm proud to have pinned the badge upon my chest like you did.
I'm proud to have served and protected my community as you did.
I'm proud to call you my BROTHER!
I commend you my fallen brother for making the ultimate sacrifice in the perfomance of your duty.
For you left us doing what you chose to do.
Performing a job you were trained to do.
Upholding the oath you swore to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do....................SERVING and PROTECTING your community with HONOR and PRIDE making a better and safer place for us all.
