I am the daughter of a fellow Buffalo police officer. I have always respected law enforcement, and had a desire to continue the family tradition. Unfortunately, I was discouraged out of it by my father, because of the "risks". When I think about the risks though, I think about the honor the job bestows, and the opportunities to show the community that cops are there to protect and serve, and be fair. I have always had it in my blood, the desire to be a cop and work my way up the ranks. When I think of Patty, I am so proud of her for her work ethic, fairness, toughness, and dedication. I would do anything, to have been such a great cop like she was. I shouldn't have listened to my father. I should have followed my heart, and honored the risks. Patty, you made Buffalo proud. I pray for you, your family, friends, loved ones, and fellow officers. May you fly high with the angels. You are now pain free & running, and riding Harleys in heaven. You did your job well. The community/city of Buffalo thanks you, and will never forget your sacrafice. Rest in Peace.

Karen Pustulka, citizen.

For Police Officer Patricia A. Parete:

The law officer is called to the scene of many incidents that present a threat and none of these calls is ignored as it is simply the duty that we perform. Receiving an injury that disables for an extended period of time is a horror that none of us want, and when we do our realization is that death sometimes pales in comparison, as death is final. We regret that our sister Patty would have to endure any amount of suffering and we pray for her family, friends, co-workers and all who care about her. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the time of need. Our hope is that they have been doing so all along.
We are proud to render Officer Patty Parete, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police
