Trooper Slagle-

It saddens me to hear about this. I was born in Tennessee and I still have alot of family in Knoxville. No, I did not know you but your family and the extended law enforcement family will be in my prayers.

For any one that has made a vow to help keep the world safe placing their life on the line for others that means you are not only caring but very special. It was an honor to have served in this Department with such a fine person. Prayers will be continuous for his family, friends and extended family (TN Troopers). May you now serve in Heaven.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Dear Trooper Slagles family,
I don't know you all, but I am the 17 year old daughter of trooper William L McClendon, who was killed in line of duty in 2006. I just wanted to let you all to know that I am praying for all of you in this time of need I know God will send a comforter around you and give you peace knowing that it won't be long before you will see him again! Always remember that Gods says he won't put more on you then you can handle and with that he knows y'all are going to come through this and be a very strong family! I have a scripture that was actually my fathers favorite, but it helps me get through everyday even on my weakest one its Philippians 4:13 and its says "I can do all things through CHRIST which strenthghens me." I know nothing I have said will make the hurt or pain go away that y'all are feeling right now, but there are holes in the floor of heaven and he's watching over all of you!

Michael, its so difficult to not hurt when you hear the news of not just one of your own Troopers, but of one of your academy classmate's life ending in such a tragic way. We knew that there would be tough days ahead but we tried not to think of days like this. May almighty God now provide you a mansion in a place of nothing but peace and happiness. I will pray for your wife and daughter as they endure this and I know our Lord will be with them to help them find comfort in the days ahead and I will rejoice in the fact that someday they will acompany you again. Rest in peace my brother.
