Reflections for Correctional Officer Victor A. Sam

Victor...your brother, Tony, told my family about your loss several years ago. I just read the details of your murder. So very sad to read that your dad found you three days after your live was taken. We remember you, Victor. RIP.

Your actions were extremely selfless that day to stop and assist two supposed stranded motorists on your way to work. Rest in peace always knowing that your service and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren.

I remember this well, my partner and I arrested the suspects in Lynwood the next day, with the weapons used. David Bernard and Michael Anderson. Bernard had Victor's credit card in his breast pocket.

This is the very least I can do to assist in preventing this coward from ever walking the streets again.

For his heinous act this inmate should have been executed. Certainly never allowed to breath fresh air again.

Officer Sam, your sacrafice is not forgotten.

It deeply saddens me to know that you were murdered at the time I was entering the field of Federal Law Enforcement. May God continue to care for your colleagues, family and the community in which you served. Your untimely passing will remind us of your bravery and dedication to the cause you so believed in.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 35th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I read a letter from your wife recently who is still fighting to keep your killer behind barss. I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
