Reflections for Police Officer Elgin Levarn Daniel

Elgin,

Tomorrow will be 10 years since you were taken from us. Valentine and I were talking about to at lunch today.

I will always remember your smile and helpful quiet nature. You were a true police officer and a good man.

To this day, you still hold the place of having told me the funniest Police story I ever heard. I laugh like a hyena ever time I think of it. Thank you for that.

I miss you. Rest easy.

Elgin,

I told the story you told me about your first day as a cop to some rookie the other day. It is still the single funniest cop story I have heard, ever.

Thanks for sharing it, and the little time we had together with me.

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Here is a man of whom it may be truly declared, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." IITim.4:7-8
He was not just a good officer, he was a good man, husband and father; a man of wisdom and a host of knowledge and most importantly a man of God.
