Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Master Police Officer Jeremiah Montgomery Goodson, Jr.

Today, I met a man that I never knew. We lived so close, but neither of us had a clue. I had met some of his co-workers in the past, but very few. We never talked about this man; he, who also wore blue.

So many people showed up today, as I did too. Many came, leaving room for only a few. We proudly displayed our badges, not that it was our duty to, but in honor of, our fallen Brother in Blue.

Rest in Peace Jeremiah (My Brother in Blue)

"When someone you love dies - you never quite get over it. You just slowly learn how to go on without them, But always keeping them tucked safely in your heart"

My heart goes out the the family...MPO Goodson put his life on the line every day to protect others. When all others run from danger, law enforcement runs to the danger to protect everyone else. That does not make it easier for the family.

This is such a tragic thing that has happened in our community. What is even more tragic is that it happened to one of the good guys. Officer Jeremiah Goodson will truly be missed. His impression will forever be left on his fellow officers of the Lumberton Police Department as well as the rest of the public safety community. My thoughts, prayers, and most sincere condolences are with the Goodson family.

Jeremiah,

I pray for your family, both personal and professional. I send them and you, brother, ALL my thoughts and prayers. I wish I could have met you because I know we would have been great, great brothers and friends. I say this because I truly believe it and because I, just like you, have always wanted to be a police officer and it takes a truly great person to step up to the plate for this profession.

Jeremiah worked in the Division I supervised and I can tell you he was a fine police officer. Even more though he was a good person, husband and father. Jeremiah had a bright future with the Lumberton Police Department and he will be greatly missed. His dedication to the job should be an inspiration to all of the other officers at the LPD.

May God watch over his soul and comfort his family. May God be with all other Police Officers across this nation.

For Master Police Officer Jeremiah M. Goodson, Jr.:

The law officer encounters many complicated situations and sometimes even while off-duty. Jeremiah acted as an exemplary law officer in his community getting involved when he observed a threat to those he was sworn to protect. We regret that Jeremiah would lose his life in the process. He now stands as one exceptionally dedicated and has earned the honor of a hero among us.

We pray for Jeremiah's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days aghead.

We are proud to render Officer Jeremiah Goodson, a soldier-of-the-law, a final aalute.
