Reflections for Master Police Officer Jeremiah Montgomery Goodson, Jr.

Dear God,

May memories of this fallen brother comfort friends and family during this difficult time.

God Bless us all.

To this day, I am still absolutely floored how the city of Lumberton and many out-of-towners , paid the well deserved respect and dignity to this brave, fallen soldier. It still brings tears to my eyes to think of what his wife must be going through, as well as the entire family. If I could say one thing to this beautiful family,it would be to remain strong, to pray together, to love each other and to be there for the precious little ones who were robbed of the opportunity to grow up with their father. May God continue to keep this family.

May Jesus wrap his arms around the Goodson family,
and may they know he is safely with our Lord & Saviour.
He gave his life so others could live, what a great sacrifice!
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Continuing to pray for the family every day, that God will give them peace.

I have been reflecting so much on how we came up in church together. As I sat in your funeral services, I thought about how you would always say you were going to do it big in life and you spoke it into existance because you did it. My payers are with your family because I know that they are good faith people. I will forever remember you and your legacy. I am a veteran of the U.S.Army, and they did a great job with your memorial. Love and Peace be multiplied unto you. God be with your family!

I'm going to miss hearing you pick at me about taking my school from me everyday. We would go back and forth about it and you would laugh and then ask me if I was mad and if we were still friends. I couldn't help but laugh at you because you always picked on me about something. It's so hard to walk by your office everyday and not see you there anymore. We miss you, but we know that God had something better for you to do. Your watch is over, my brother, we have it from here.
I also want to THANK EVERYONE for the visits, prayers, donations, comments, calls, flowers, cards, text messages, etc..... Please continue to keep Jeremiah's family and Lumberton Police Department in your prayers!

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

I was honored to attend Officer Goodsons funeral services today. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but after today I felt like I knew him. It was a lovely celebration of life and moving service.

I hope the family is able to find peace and know that Officer Goodson is watching from above. Rest in peace brother in blue.
