Reflections for Probation / Parole Officer Jeffery Matthew McCoy

Law Enforcement Officers willingly put on a uniform every day and protect our communities, states, and nation and some end up making the ultimate sacrifice.
O God of Peace, so many of America’s Peace Officers who are on the front lines to protect us never make it back home to their families. We pray for these fallen law enforcement officers, Lord God, who gave their lives for us. We pray for the families of these heroes, who have to now endure life without their loved one. Lord God, society tries to move forward, but there is always bloodshed occurring. We approach Your throne of glory and grace to beg of You for peace. Lord God, bring peace to this land – the United States of America. We plead for Your divine intervention to quiet our hearts and unify our communities. Stop the violence that occurs amid our cities. We thank You for all America’s Peace Officers who have died protecting us, and ask that You send an everlasting peace so that America’s Peace Officers on the streets may be safe and return home to their loved ones at the end of their assigned shifts. In Christ Jesus, Your blessed Son, I pray. Amen.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

I can not believe it's been two years... My heart still aches everyday without you. So many thing have changed and I want you here for them all. Your babies aren't babies anymore, but your son is so you. From the way he looks, all the way down to his side ways smile, to his amazing sense of humor. Your baby girl has learned to do her back walk over and is such a great little spirit. My beautiful sister in law is back in school. She is making you so proud. Her strength through this has been so amazing. She is helping other families now. Your big brother is giving back to the world by helping others as well. He is still our Bubba. Mom and Dad have started a golf tournament to remember you through scholarships for correctional families. I am in awe of all they do and do it so bravely. Meanwhile, your sister can't seem to find a day I don't shed at least one tear because I want YOU to be here and see all this. Bug and I went to the cemetary today and she "skyped you in heaven" a Happy Birthday. This was such a hard one for me. I just miss you much. Your legacy is still so strong through corrections. Anyone that knew you still will go on and on about what and amazing man you were. What a blessing you were to all. I try and tell myself, it was such a blessing to have you, if only for a short time. My mind will buy it but my heart wanted so much more. If I know you, you are looking down shaking your head at me, saying I at peace and wanting the same for us. And most days I can fake it... Today not at all! I love and miss you so much. Thank you for being my little brother. You are one of a kind!!! XOXO

Jeff will forever live in the hearts of his family and all those who were blessed to know and love him. Shooting officer's has to stop. No one should go to work and have to worry, or have their wife, children, parents, grandparents, siblings, family, friends, and coworker's worry. Will they be going home tonight night. This officer down shooting didn't take Jeff alone. It forever took a piece of the hearts of so many people. Not to mention 2 beautiful small children who will grow up without their amazing father, and for what? God Bless Jeff McCoy and God Bless and be with him, his family, and all officer's that risk their lives every single day for you for me for our families.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents. May family & friends feel the presence of the "God of All Comfort" as they endure the distressing days ahead. I join them in their agonizing grief & remember them in my prayers.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
And we recall in comfort
You await us there.
