Reflections for Police Officer Clifton P. Lewis

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

Cliff,
I just wanted to say that I think about you around this time every year. I remember receiving the call that night and I remember thinking it couldn't be true. Unfortunately for every person who knew you, it was. I know for a fact you are in heaven and watching over every brother and sister you have on this department. May you rest in peace Cliff and God willing I will see you again when God calls me home.

I am retired after 41 years, I worked forensic services and had to handle 3 officer involved killings. I am from the old school where we wear the same badge, I don't care race, beliefs or age, all are my brothers and sisters not only on the job but in God's teaching. There has not been one of these I worked I didn't cry like a baby, and pray for special passage for my brother. My heart is heavy for your loss then and now. God Bless

Bonded!!

As I sit holding your picture that is bonded in this frame, I look up and smile because that's how I feel about our love.

Who would have known, that a gentle but stern, loving and always caring, putting people before himself guy would capture my heart the way you did. As I remember all of the joy you brought into my life and the lives of others all I can think of is the word BONDED! Your life, your purpose, your will and ultimate sacrifice is a seal that you have left that no one can replace. So as the years go by I'll forever hold on to this picture and smile each time holding onto the the bond we had and the bond we will always have. I know you know that my love is bonded onto you for all eternity and that is something that will never be broken. So continue to Rest and be assured that you and your name Officer Clifton P Lewis will be remember forever.

As each day passes I wonder why God placed me into your life? You touched me with your kindness and loved me with all your heart. You gave so much, but asked for so little. You were my protector from all things big or small. You lifted me when I was down, never did you let me fall. You gave me the greatest gift when your turned to my son and asked "With your permission may I have your mother's hand in marriage" My angel that day will never leave me, nor will the love that I know that you had for me. As I continue my journey in this life I will forever hold on to the fact that I know that I will have you again. So until that time comes I ask that you wait patiently and continue to know that you will always hold that center spot in my heart. Loving you for eternity...EOW in this life Dec 29 2011

i will always cherish you in my heart. Saturday, I made a toast to you while looking at your picture, seeing you with my Jim smiling and watching over Simi. I will miss your calls on Mother's Day thanking me for your blessings. I think about you every Christmas in my kitchen cooking eggs for breakfast in your special way for the girls and laughing. I'll miss your smile and hugs. Sometimes I forget you are gone and I want to call then remember I can't. I couldn't have ask for a better son if you were my blood. You were always there for me. God enlisted a special angel that was truly loved. I feel like you know what I'm saying and it's putting a smile on your face. I see you saying "oh Nana" and laughing. I will look out for Maxine. See you one day.
