I still can't believe such a tragedy has occurred. I can't begin to describe the sadness I feel for his wife and daughters. It won't be the same going to work everyday and not seeing Dave in his office. He was genuinely respected and will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

I did not know you personally, but you are near and dear in the hearts of my family. It hurts me to see such a tragic loss in the law enforcement community, and your relation to those who I love really hits the heart hard. I wish I could be there to personally deliver my condolances. Thank you for your 24 years of service, and I am so sorry to see that your last EOW came too soon and in such tragedy.

We all know that this can happen, but no one ever expects it or are prepared for it. Dave my heart aches so badly for you and your family. We have been friends for more than 25 years and brother officers over 19 of those years. I probably never told you how much respect I had for you and the way you lived life, but I think that you knew it anyway. Thank you Sgt. Enzbrenner for being my friend. I know that I am a better person because of that. May you rest in peace and know that we will take it from here.

I worked with David for nearly the first decade of my career. I knew him as a man of few words, but when he did speak people listened. He was an even tempered and kind hearted man. I remember playing a lot of golf with David and I even bought his beloved Ford T-Bird when he needed to trade into more of a family car. When my father suddenly passed away, David reached out to me and personally handled the notification. I'm eternally grateful for the life of Sgt. David Enzbrenner for all that he taught me and all that he gave to the Atchison community. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

As I stumble to find the best comforting words for such great bereavement, I have decided I will not try. Time is the only comfort for the loss of Sergeant David Enzbrenner. A brave and honorable Officer was taken from us and we can only pray that he will be watching over us from above now. He dedicated his life and many family times and treasured moments to serve the community of Atchison. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of Sergeant Enzbrenner. It's a tough battle ahead of you, but the memories should not be ignored. Let his memories shine...out of respect for everything that he dedicated and sacrificed! Dave was the officer that had to make that "knock on our door" on August 4, 2000, to tell us that our son Casey had been killed by a drunk driver in Missouri. Dave stayed with us, cried and hugged us that day. Dave answered the questions that he could, and searched to find the ones he couldn't. Dave took the time to come to my retirement luncheon recently, which meant the world to Dennis and I. Dave is our friend and will be missed tremendously, not only by us but the entire community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this very difficult time.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

A great man, role model, father, friend, son, husband, co worker, police officer as well as a human being lost his life but never his spirit. I hope we continue to use his legacy for the good of people and just love one another, never taking a moment for granted. Isnt that what life is all about? Thanks to all of APD and various other departments for keeping us safe each night that I and my children sleep. I thank you all....
