The outpouring of sympathy and sincere respect from the Virginia Tech community is overwhelming. I envy every officer working on that campus.

God bless you all for your words on these pages, you have proven that the Police who serve you are truly appreciated and you cannot imagine how far that goes for them.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Officer Crouse,
I have not met you personally. When I sent my daughter off to Tech for her first year there I was confident that you and your fellow officers would ensure her safety as well as all the students who are there to learn. From what I have heard you have a great reputation with the students by talking to them and looking out for them.It is apparent to all that you truly cared about them. As a parent I appreciate what you did and I will miss your prescence on campus guarding and guiding our children.Your Children and family have a hero in you to look up to and to remember. You will be a new source of inspiration to them and to all.My condolences to your family.

Such a terrible loss to those in the community he served and to his family. I believe the ones who pass suffer no more-the ones that remain are left with a part missing from their heart. May the memories of your friend, husband, father, and fellow officer help you through this difficult time to move forward and find in your life a way to honor his. RIP Officer Crouse
