Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Michael Morgan, Jr.

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

It has been a while since I stopped by your page, but you have been on my mind more than usual these last few days. One of those memories that keeps coming back was the night you called me in the middle of the night trying to get me to remember the names of the kids from the school we dealt with. You were positive he was giving you a false name. For 20 minutes I named names and you kept telling me “not him”. I’ld Give anything for one of those “emergency “ calls from you again. I keep your Mass card on my rear view mirror so we travel the US together.

Miss you my friend!

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

All the work you've done inspired me more to continue the goal of joining the NPD. I'm almost there. Keeping you in mind on a constant basis while I complete the hardest training in the state. I promise to continue that same work ethic you had while working. Rest easy Michael.

It doesnt get easier each year that passes on... We have been friends since before i was even on the job and you have never changed... As i sit here looking through all these officers who gave their all i can't help but break down not only because i think of you but of them also... I know that you are living it up up there making everyone laugh... I will never forget that night and i thank God everyday that i got to hug you one last time and you said to me "See you later handsome" and a half hour later that coward made his mistake... But you're right M i will see you later just not yet... Love you my brother, you are truly missed... #43

I've lost family the same way and it hurts. For what its worth, you did what any "good" man would have done. Rest in piece and, though I'm not worthy of these words, SEMPER FI (all ways faithful).

I participated in the National Police Week 5K this past May in Washington, D.C. If you do not choose an individual to run for, you are given a name of an officer who lost their life in the line of duty. The name is pinned onto the front of your shirt. I ran for Michael Morgan and, although I do not know him I am proud to say I finished my first 5K Race in his memory in 33:12. When I wanted to give up I looked at my shirt and saw his name and it gave me the courage to keep going. My thoughts and prayers are with all your loved ones. Thank you for your service.
