God Bless you, Deputy Sheriff James D. Paugh. You are a hero and one of America's Finest, who will not be forgotten. So many Law Enforcement Officers pursue this dangerous field of work, because they sincerely want to make a difference, to make a positive contribution to society. Sadly, you have done that, but now we have lost as I said, one of America's finest. On behalf of many American civilians who realize Law Enforcement Officers are ultimately responsible for enabling us to enjoy our freedoms and Constitutional Rights, we thank you and mourn the loss of you, a true American Hero. My condolences to the family, loved ones, and fellow LEO of Deputy Sheriff James D. Paugh.

When I received the news early this morning, it was unbelievable. JD was a good officer and I had the honor to work with him on "D" shift when he was 420. You will be missed by all that knew you JD. You were senselessly taken way to soon. Rest in Peace JD.

To see J.D.'s picture on the ODMP, when just last night, he was laughing and joking with friends is surreal. This is another example of how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken from us. I have known J.D. for many years, and he was a great guy. He will be missed.
