I just read the Daily Bread for 11/08/2012 and having been in law enforcement for almost 24 years I too wanted to read about Officer Slot. Thank you Officer Slot for your service and to all who put their lives on the line every day. Thank you also for your testimony. You truly are a hero. My prayers are with you and your family and for all first responders.

Yes, I too read the Our Daily Break devotional earlier today (11/08/2012), and was intrigued by the reference to Trevor. Promised myself to "google" him at work today, and just thought of it here at my desk. We DO still have heroes in America; Trevor is now one of mine. Thank God for men and women who still stand for ethics, morals, principles and law in a society that seems to be crazed; our young people need to see examples of integrity like Trevor to encourage them there IS still a remnant. God richly bless your family, Officer Slot. You have my admiration and respect.

I was reading my daily devotion on Our Daily Bread's website and today's devotion was based on Officer Slot's character. He was known as a devoted officer, father and Christian. What a testimony to the world and a blessing to fellow Christians to hear of Trevor's legacy. If you are a family member of Officer Slot's or close friend, you should be proud.

Six years ago tomorrow, I met two officers from the Walker Police Department when my husband's name was honored at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony. Two days ago, it was my honor to meet Mrs. Slot, her daughters, and several members of the Walker Police Department after the Police Unity Tour arrival. What a privilege for me! Nothing can take away the pain of what all of you are going through, but your tight bond of support for each other will help you get through these dark days. As you prepare to hear Officer Slot's name called tomorrow, I pray that you will find comfort from the large family of law enforcement who are there by your side. I will be thinking of all of you tomorrow.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiance Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Slot. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Trevor he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Trevor's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Trevor's life was about so much more than the way he died. Trevor will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Slot, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiance Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been nine years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Slot's family, friends and co-workers! As an officers wife and a friend of another fallen officer this year my heart is heavy. Trevor sounds like an amazing man. I heard my friends widow tell her girls that some kids never had a loving father and they had a great one for 15 and 12 years so they should be thankful for that time. Your husband sounds like a great husband and father also. I hope you find peace during this difficult time.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace in such incidents & our only real comfort comes from Him.
