Reflections for Patrolman Derek Kotecki

There are no words to express my sorrow over your loss. Here on this earth we have lost a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend and a hero. Heaven has gained an angle to look down upon us and watch over us. Derek, rest in peace brother. We will now keep the watch over this world, and your loved ones, while you watch over us.

To Officer Derek Kotecki's Family;

My heart has grown very heavy this night as I read how
your Loved One, Officer Kotecki has been gunned down.

He gave his life to protect others, his loving K-9 Odin loyally guarding his best friend. I weep as I think of his wife and children left here to suffer the pain that noone ever wants to suffer.

My daughter is a Philadelphia Policewoman and I fear every day and night for her life. She is my heart of hearts and I cannot imaging losing her.

Please know that I am thinking of you and everyone that has loved Officer Kotecki, May God Keep him forever in his loving care. Bless you all !
Deborah Doyle, Mother of a Policewman, Phila. 15th district, and myself, Ex-Court Officer for city of phila.

The true measure of a man is not how tall he stands, but how far he bends to help others.

I even though I did not have the honor of meeting Derek personally the feeling of loss and sadness is overwhelming.

On behalf of the dispatchers of Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety I would like to offer the most sincere condolences to Derek's family and the Officers of the Lower Burrell Police Department.
