Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Kyle David Pagerly

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

Kyle was killed two weeks after I left rehab. I remember not knowing how I was going to stay sober through the pain of not only losing my friend but watching our friends hearts break. I was told if I wanted to stay sober I had to find a Higher Power. I wasn’t sure that was real and if it was I didn’t think he cared about me. But I believe in spirits, and Kyle had a spirit and an energy that is unmatched. We all know that. I figured if there was anything out there that could help me stay sober, Kyle’s spirit would know how to get ahold of it. I spent the first year of my sobriety praying to my friend, Kyle and asking him to pass notes to God. This is a story I have told to hundreds of people over the course of my sobriety. Kyle helped me find something bigger than myself so that I could recover. I have a life beyond my wildest dreams and I’m not sure that would have happened if Kyle spirit wasn’t there talking to God for me. I celebrated 12 years sober this year and I still talk to Kyle when things get tough and my faith waivers because I know he is the kind of friend that is always there.

You will never be forgotten Kyle. Time may pass by for some but know there are those of us that will always remember you’re smile, you’re laugh, sense of humor and most of all what you gave to keep others safe. You gave all those things without a second thought for yourself, there are few that can say the same.

Its been awhile since I have visited this site and I'm still amazed how many lives you touched.
Missing you today as always. My heart was broken on June 29th and will never mend. Your daughter Savannah is amazing , you would be so proud of her. I often think how different our lives would be if not for that horrible day. I guess God had different plans for us.

Love you more and more each day....

You will always be remembered and loved by so many......

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Mrs. Pagerly,
My name is Anthony i live in the city of Reading, Pennsylvania. I wanted to always tell you that your husband inspired me to law enforcement and i'll be graduating at Reading High School this June to go to college for criminal justice so i come back home and do what your husband was. I just wanted to thank you for having a great husband who inspired a 14yrs old kid who he arrested his brother for warrants and inspiring him to become a sheriff for his county and hometown. Hey brother, it's that time of the year again. I thought about you a lot over the last week. I watched the memorial video a few times and cried. I'm sure you've seen all the crap that the law enforcement comunity has been through this year, so we need you more than ever to keep looking out for all of us. I still wear your memorial bracelet every time I'm in uniform.

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

On the anniversary of the day you sacrificed so much, we remember. We remember the man you were. We remember the brother we lost. We remember the family you left behind.

In true fashion and like always your cuffs were working last night. As I'm sure you watched. They chased down a suspect who fled from a stop. Only to be caught and secured by your cuffs.Your still in the fight, and always will be.

We miss you and think about you everyday. I'll see you when I get there.
