Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant James Timothy Chapin

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Tim, though I'm a few days late leaving this, I want you to know as you watch over us from above that you will never be forgotten. I'll never forget that terrible day, what it felt like to hear that event unfold. Every time I walk into that Starbucks I recall our many conversations there, but especially the last one just a week or so before that day. Your picture still hangs there in your honor. I'm constantly reminded of your sacrifice; your selfless but heroic actions that undoubtedly saved the lives of those you led that day. It was an honor serving with you, but the greatest honor was being able to call you a friend. Rest, brother... rest.

Sgt. Chapin, never met you in person but I remember the day like yesterday being in my bed and receiving a phone call from my dad because he knew how much I loved CPD and the officers who keep our city safe. Glad I still have the desire to serve. Rest In Peace.

The word Hero can get thrown around so much these days. My hero's are and always have been my "kiddos". We lost too many of my Hero's during my time there. Thank you for running towards the violence and protecting those that needed it so. Bless your amazing family and all the families of all my Hero's. Lord please protect those still serving our communities. I know they have some amazing angels watching over them.

FALLEN HEROES - From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man. I know some were against it but God knows what is best. Now I am at home with him and have perfect peace and rest. Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold. And I'm serving others along with the saints of old. I know some still have anger about the way I died but God sees and bottles every tear you cry. As difficult as it may be please don't hold a grudge. Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge. Please don't be sad and mourn for me I'm doing what I love; serving God and guarding you from heaven up above.

Sgt. I think of you often, working here in our old stomping grounds. The team misses you daily and talks about you often. It is still so hard for us to this day to go to "that place", But we do, when they call. We miss the morning chats at Starbucks, daily jokes and cutting up! What memories!!!! I know you are watching over all of your brother's and sister's down here!! We appreciate it!! Thank you for being the kind of person and Sgt you were and THANK YOU for your dedication and service. Delta team all the way!!!! It's still as crazy as ever!!!

Today is a day of great reflection, as we think back on the sacrifices each of you gave to protect & serve. I am reminded of one Sgt. Tim Chapin. As a civilian employee & wife of an officer at the same agency, my heart is heavy today. If you have not thanked an officer today, please do so. Their sacrifices should not go unnoticed.
Thank you Sgt. Tim Chapin
