Reflections for Police Officer Jermaine Anthony Gibson

R.I.P. Jermaine, I remember seeing you around the city always saying hi to random people making sure they would have a great day. I could never forget the day i heard about your accident. Wondering if everyone involved was ok, not knowing all the details. I remember the next day at the academy, there was a gloom around the room. A feeling of sorrow from everyone there including some who knew you personally. Much love and respect brother. I know your up there watching over all your brothers and sisters in blue.

Happy 30th Birthday J Gibbs! I am so thankful you visited me in a dream last night. I woke up on this hard day with a smile on my face. Thank you for that. I needed it. I know you are in heaven, making everyone up there laugh but God, how I wish I could hear your laugh right now. I wish we could be driving like old times listening to Case, trying to sing. I still laugh thinking about the first time we went to the pier together. I had a coughing spell and couldn't stop. You just laughed at me the whole time. If we could rewind time, I would stop and re live everyday I had with you. Today, I looked at pictures. Yes, I cried. Jermaine, I miss you. Now, when madden comes out every year in August who can I buy the game for??? That was always the only thing you wanted every year. Just know... I hold so many moments so close to my heart and at times I play them over and over just to feel close to you again. Again, happy birthday jermaine. I love you.

A dear friend...

It still doesn't seem real. No matter how many times I've heard your name called out at the memorials this month - Sacramento, D.C., Riverside... and even CPCA in March - I still expect to see your name on my phone when it rings. I miss your laugh and jokes, our conversations about anything and everything...

Jermaine, my Brother. I miss you. You are my friend and my partner. I want to thank you for all your help. I had a lot of seniority on you but you had so much more knowledge and abilities. We all loved having you on our team, you brought life and laughter to Law Enforcement.

It is almost a year since your un-timely death and on this date, I just learned that I have the distinct honor of riding for you during the 2012 Police Unity Tour bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington DC. The Unity Tour is an Awareness ride that celebrates that Heros like Jermaine Gibson, who unselfishly gave their lives in the line of duty.

I give his family and friends my sincere condolences as the first year anniversary is almost upon us.
