Reflections for Deputy U.S. Marshal John Brookman Perry

I just want to celebrate what a great agent your fiance was, I do not know him, but my goal has always been to be a U.S. Marshal. Thank you for your service.

Three years ago we lost a good friend, father, brother, and son. The world lost a good man. Still remembered, missed, and honored. Thinking of you John Perry.

As I sit here today, ready to face the third holiday season without you, I can at least smile at the memory of the delight that you always had in all of the pie making that I did the day before Thanksgiving..and laugh at the memory of the multiple phone calls you did to make sure that I had your "orders" correct. There is still not a day that goes by that I don't think about you, that I don't miss you. Love you always, Pammy

I came here after I saw the "Brothers Keeper" episode of Justified which honored the memory of DUSM John Perry and another fallen DUSM.

As the holiday season moves forward and his absence makes your hearts ache again / still, I want to extend my condolences to the Perry family, to John's fiance Pam, and his fellow officers and friends.

The reflections here show a man whom would be a good friend and teacher to many. You have a great loss, he left left a great legacy.

With gratitude for his service and sacrifice,

You have Veterans of war, our military and you have Law Enforcement officers all fighting for the same things, our freedom and safety. Whether it is our military personnel fighting terrorism or our law enforcement fighting the drug dealers, the gangs, the murderers and thieves, we are all brothers and sisters. When one of our brothers or sisters has given the ultimate sacrifice, we must remember them and their families. They did not have to do this job, they chose to because of their love for this country.

Next time you see a law enforcement officer, a fireman or a military person, go up and thank them for protecting you and your loved ones. We are all affected by the lose of any of these brave people.

The loss of a father is a tragedy for his family. The loss of a law enforcement officer is a loss for the entire country. There are no words that can bring him back or ease the pain but realize that this touches the heart of someone who didn't know John, but still feels a loss.

Tomorrow over 50 people will set out on Illinois COPS Cycle Across Illinois. Jenny DeYong will be riding in your honor, carrying a memorial pin, a challange coin and your favorite photo of the two of us. Given your love of bike racing, I am so happy that you are being honored on this ride. Think of you every day and miss you so much. Love you, Pammy

JP,
We think of you often and tell John stories all the time. We raised a glass to you yesterday with Pam, I know you were with us, but wish I could have had another Flying Saucer story to tell today. We miss you, Rest In Peace Brother...

Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of you being taken from those of us who loved and continue to love you dearly. I heard a quote by Thomas Mertens...Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone, we find it with another. I found much love, life and all of the good things with you by my side. Without you, it is a daily struggle to find meaning in even the most simple basic things. I love you and I still miss you so very very much. Your Pammy

I was giving a class Friday morning at the FLETC Chapel area. I stopped by and talked to you for a while, then wanted to check your page when I got home. You are still touching people's lives, John. I still laugh when I remember Charlie Moore telling us that our BDUSM class was officially the fattest class to go through the Academy! We all had a few drinks at Pam's soon afterwards and toasted that. I'll stop by again soon.

I was watching an episode of the TV series "Justified" which was dedicated to the memory of Deputy Marshal Hotsinpiller. The TV show depicts the daily dangers the US Marshal service experience. Even though I am in Australia, I wanted to express my admiration for the courage and dedication of the members of the Marshal service and express my condolences to Deputy Marshal Hotsinpiller's family. I recently visited the National Law Enforcement Memorial and traced the name of Senior Inspector John Perry and several other Deputy United States Marshals who's lives were cut short while on duty. I believe I crossed paths with John in 2003 or 2004. A few Deputy Marshals I work with either went through the same Academy Training Class with him or worked alongside him on a security detail. I've heard nothing but great things about John. Unfortunately I was not able to travel to John's funeral service, but like all his fellow Deputies that could not attend due to work we were all there in spirit. Rest in Peace..

Some days are still incredibly difficult without you here. When great things happen, I still want to call you..bad days make me want to call you. You loved me no matter what, faults and all and I was so very lucky to have you in my life. It is a comfort to know that when it is my time to depart that I will be able to join you again. Love you, always...Pammy

Thinking of you again, Falcon. Especially this week. You ARE (not were) the example of a great cop, friend, and father. Wish we were all back in Super Court or Fado's again just to hear you crack another joke. Everytime I had basics at the use of force pit and scenarios, I shared your story with them. Alot of them tell me that it will stick with them when they hit the streets. You will never be forgotten, brother.
