Reflections for Police Officer David Scott Crawford

I had the privilege of working with Officer Crawford during my two years at SPPD. He was a great officer and a superb human being. This gentle giant was an inspiration to all that knew him, and I still remember him to this day as he sat in the back of the roll call room. RIP brother.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Missing your fatherly wisdom and humor. We just had our Blue Light Tree Lighting ceremony here in Kalispell Montana. As I hung the bulb with your name on the tree, I remembered all the great times I had growing up with you as an extra "dad." Rest in peace. Hugs to you.

When I got the news I broke down. I felt chills down my spine. Ive known Officer Crawford since I was 7 and he was like an uncle/father figure to me and when I reached my teen years I couldn't stay out of trouble. So him and a couple other officers checked up on me constantly to make sure I was actually staying out of trouble but I wasnt. I got in so much trouble that my mom moved me to TN. I never got to say goodbye to Dave and thank him for all the advice he had given me. Theres not a day that goes by that I dont think of him. I miss him dearly! Best regards to his family that he left behind!

I will always be in debt to Officer Dave-he saved my daughter's life when he took over her domestic abuse case. He went above and beyond to help us and kept in touch to make sure we were okay. I miss him as he became a friend to us. You are in my thoughts Officer Dave

May the family of Officer Crawford find some peace in knowing his killer will never be free, and that their loved one may now rest from his labors. He is among the fallen who watch over those who continue to stand . . . (from Chaplain David Edwards, surviving parent of Cpl. Matthew Edwards, Taylor (MI) PD, EOW 7/23/10).

Your heroic career will serve to steel the resolve of your brethren for years to come. Those of us retired from the South Florida Police community and currently living in Citrus County were especially saddened by this tragedy. May God bless your family and the members of the St. Petersburgh Police Dept. God bless you and may you rest in peace, brother.
