My condolences to the families and co-workers of Officer Castillo and Officer Haworth. This tragic event serves as an example of the dangers police officers face on a daily basis that all too often is neither understood nor appreciated by many in the public. These brave officers are heroes, not because of the way they died, but because of the way they lived, serving and protecting the public. May God bless those left behind who will miss these two fine officers.

On this date 50 years ago, I watched as our new president urged us "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Even at 5 years old I wanted a career in public service and after some false starts finally made it.

President Kennedy also said we would bear any burden and pay any price for freedom. Unfortunately now the burden is born disproportionately by you, your partner, and your families. We will carry the load from here. My sympathies to your family and department. Valor will be your memory.

Roger, I did not know you personally but I feel you through Love. That same Love is what I know you had in your heart when your Soul left your body today. Therefore we ignore the illusions of Life because we know that your Soul is forever, and that's why we Honor you today and everyday to come. You are blessed my friend, and you will always be present with us. We Love You and we thank you for all of your Life here in this world. Peace to you my fellow Brother...
