I first met tiny Ellison when I was in high school. I met him when he was a city police officer in Big Spring. We talked a little and told him I wanted to be in law enforcement whe I got out of high school. He said it was a good honest job and wished me luck.
The next time I saw him I was a city police officer in Big Spring and he was a deputy.
ON March 3, 1971 I was on patrol and decided I would relieve the dispatcher so she could have a bite to eat. I received a radio call from a deputy asking me to call sheriff Standard that tiny Ellison was dead. He has been missed and will be for a long time RIP

This was my much loved dad. He died when I was only 10 years old, but I remember it very well. My younger brother and I were at my grandmother's house when the shooting occurred, thankfully. He is greatly missed. Thank you all for your kind remembrances of him. It means a lot to me.

My Dad was working with Deputy Ellison that night. Very sad story. Dad passed in 1993 but never forgot his buddy.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 41rst anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

How terrible that your sons had to witness your murder.

Rest In Peace.
