I grew up in Lakewood and always thought about being a Police Officer for Lakewood Township. Lakewood PD officers are true professionals and I have no doubt that Officer Matlosz - "You were one of the department's shining stars". Unfortunately for us all (especially your family and your brothers/sisters in the department) evil was walking down a road looking to take a life. You will be missed by all. Rest in Peace, we have the watch.

Even though I didn't know you, you are my brother. I am truly sorry about what happened to you. I am sure you didn't leave your home expecting this but you knew it could happen. You still went into work that day anyway. You are a hero to all those who put on the uniform and are a shining example of what it means to be a police officer. Thank you for your service. Chris, I am still in shock over what happened to you. It has been a long time since our special officer days at the Freehold Twp. P.D. We certainly had some good times. You were a great guy and an even better police officer. You will be sorely missed brother. The puke that did this to you has been caught so rest easy.
