Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

The officer died because of an individual that should have remained in prison was released. If there is any solace for his family and his Department it is that this individual didn't harm any other innocents. May God take good care of him, his family left behind and his brother officers.

My dad was a plain clothes police officer in Ma and when I was a little girl I remember the pain he felt when he killed a murderer in self defense. He received many plaques of honor and many calls of thanks. However, it bothered him even though the criminal was going to shoot him without thought. When I heard the sad news about Officer John Maguire I couldn't help to think about my own dad. My whole world would have been different if the criminal killed my father instead of my dad killing him. It's been years, too many to count since that night and I wish with all my heart that Officer John Maguire had survived. My heart goes out to his family and fellow officers. Remember their grief will go on and doesn't stop after a funeral. Reach out to them all and keep them in your prayers.I was fortunate to keep my dad around for many years. I salute you Officer Maguire. So wouldn't my dad. May you rest in peace.

Officer Maguire, you Sir are a true HERO among us all!! You have served your Department, your community, your City, State and Country to the highest degree.
I was born in Everett, Mass. in 1950 and then we moved to Wilmington, Mass. in 1955 until my family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1959. I was a serving member of the Toronto Police Service for nearly 32 years.
