Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Wesley Richard Whitmore, Jr.

Well I could write a novel dedicated to this MAN! He was always there for anyone that was in need, even if it was inconvenient for him! He's was crass and grumpy at times, but most of the time he has smiling and joking around. He made the best spaghetti sauce in the world, and taught me more than I even know. He was hands down the most intelligent person I've ever known, and never expressed an opinion with serious reflection and thought. I spend every day in anticipation of seeing him again, I miss him more than anyone could ever understand! He was more than just my father, he was a mentor, teacher, friend yet most important he was my dad!! We may not of always seen eye to eye, but he knew my heart and me enough to know I never mean anyone any harm! The world lost something irreplaceable the day he was killed, I lost everything that day. I never stop thinking about my dad, and I know he's waiting for me! Thank you all for your well wishes and respect for my dad God bless you all!

I knew Captain/Major Whitmore in in two assignments in the Air Force. In New York and Germany. He was a fine man and officer. He loved sports and dedicated himself to everything he was doing. I was simple searching for our old friendships and came across his articles. I will miss him. A fine person and family man who grow out of the ranks of being an enlisted man and became a fine officer.

Hi Wes... I'm thinking about you today. I miss you. In fact, I just can't seem to take your name and number out of my phone list. I've been tempted to call your number just to hear your voice another time. I remember our last conversation and remember how happy I was to hear from you. You always gave me honest advice and spoke from your heart. You were a good man, a great friend, an amazing deputy, and now a forever angel. I miss you! -Mel.

Sgt. Whitmore,
I will never forget you coming into our breifings almost everyday and telling us to "be safe" and "have a good night." It was a pleasure to have met you and have worked with you, even for the short time I was in the Central District. My heart sank when I was in church and received the text message from a fellow deputy at the 12th minute of the 12th hour of December 12, saying you had lost your life in a S4D. Our whole agency is still feeling the loss. I look foward to seeing you again on that day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family, your squad, and the Polk Count Sheriff's Office. It was a privilage to know and work with you. After leaving in the morning and hearing you anounce that Central day shift was 1008, it was a shock to come in and find out what occurred. You will be geatly missed. You had an impact on more lives than you could imagine. You have fought the good fight and run your race. Rest assured that your brothers have it covered from here.

4) Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
5) Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
6) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
7) Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.
8) Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
9) Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
10) Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

While it is no consolation for your loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow deputies of Sergeant Whitmore.

While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven through his selfless service to those he swore to protect.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.
