Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Christopher Alan Wilson

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

Five years ago today the thin blue line got a little thinner. This was a tragic loss as is all the Officers whose lives are cut short protecting the streets for others.
RIP Officer Wilson, you are not forgotten.

Chris, I looked up to you when I worked in southeastern with you. When I got the word that you were the one who died, I was truly saddened. I remember it like yesterday. I wanted to be at your funeral but I had left SDPD and was working for another agency that had already paid for some mandatory training that I could not be excused from. I was there in spirit with all our brothers from SE div. A stencil of your name from the memorial in Washington DC hangs in my locker and I think of you everyday that I go 10-8. Be thou at peace.

To the Wilson family, if there were ever words to describe Chris's strength an determination, they would be angelic and Godly. Chris was a cops cop. He ruled S/E like no one could. I can not comprehend that it is three years ago coming soon. Chris you were a great warrior, servant and an even better dad. Rest in peace my brother in blue and watch after me my brother. We love and miss you.

I had the oportunity to work with Chris Wilson's lovely daughter. Her mom is part of the clinic of the hospital i worked for. This is a wonderful young lady who should not have lost her father this way. Chris Wilson left before his time but i know that he is in God's hands. You do not raise a daughter like that and not know who God is. God bless u
Chris and may he watch over your children.

I am convined the Senior Chief running study sessions just passed us on our final exams, not a chance that we could have made an A after Ds all semester. Still You were a great guy and I miss you very much. Would love to have a beer with you and catch up, but that will wait for another place. You were a great Officer and friend, VR bill

Chris, it has been one year since your passing. I still remember this night vividly one year later. Hearing 11-99 on the radio was heart wrenching. Your peers in other divisions didn't know who was hurt or the extent of their injuries. I remember the dispatcher asking for you by name on the radio. I know you heard your name, but you were unable to answer. I went to the hospital to wait for you to arrive. Once the ambulance showed up and they rolled you out of the rig, I knew it was too late. I saw you had already began your walk towards heaven's gates. The doctors kept you alive until your family could come and say good bye. So many officers waited outside as word came down saying you had gone. We know you are in a better place and watching down on us....

God bless and rest in peace.....

38 years is a lifetime for friendships. It was my honer to grow up with you and be your friend and know you as a brother and someone I could entrust anything with. On the eve of you death I will remember all the events in our lives that shaped who we both became and what we stood for and all the wonderful things we did. Your Family and children will represent all that is good because you dedicated your life as being a father first and a Police Officer who cared. I will miss you Chris.

I was working Southern Division the night Chris was shot. It was the first time I heard an "11-99" live on the air. Coming from Southern Division, I was one of the first units from outside of Southeastern Division to arrive on scene.

I took a traffic post at the north end of the scene. I was all alone with nobody to talk to. Waves of officers came roaring into the scene, lights and sirens blazing.

I had to retreat to my car several times so nobody would see me cry.

I never knew Chris, but the memory of that night will live with me forever, and it will serve as a stark reminder that there is no substitute for going home safe.

I had the honor of being one of nearly 2,000 motorcyclists to ride in the 8th Annual Officer Down Motorcycle Rally in San Marcos. Kudos to Det. Damien Jackson, the brain child of the very successful fund raising/memorial ride. Having been in law enforcement for 26 years before retiring, I know it's never easy to lose a brother/sister in blue. I've personally been next to two comrades, on two separate occasions, after they received their fatal wounds. Helplessness is not a feeling any cop likes. But when God calls them for their final, and greatest reward, no human can stop it, no matter how hard we may try.

Officer Wilson, I did not personally know you, but your daughter gave everyone at the rally a brief peek into your kind and caring soul. She also wrote, and read, a beautiful poem that left me, and others, misty. You left a strong, intelligent and caring legacy in your daughter. I know you are proud , as well you should be.

Thanks for what you gave, because you gave your all.

I remember when the incident that took this hero's life happened. I was very saddened then as I know I will continue to be especially tomorrow when I do the Officer Down ride starting at the Academy in San Marcos. I have posted the Twitter and Facebook link about this tragic incident in hopes people will attend the ride or at least make a contribution to the fund. I will be very proudly riding my motorcycle tomorrow alongside other fellow officers and civillians that appreciate and respect the job we do daily. God bless Officer Wilson, his family, his fellow officers at his department, and all police officers everywhere.

Chris popped into my mind today for whatever reason. After nearly 30 years in this business, it's still hard to fully comprehend the loss of comrades and the senselessness of it in most cases. May you rest well, Chris, after having served in such grand fashion.
