Reflections for Officer John Richard Zykas

I remember John as a good man and a fair officer. Even though I had not seen John in almost 10 years, I remember his smile and voice.

John was always a happy, go lucky, so what kinda guy, no matter what was said or requested :) We used to find referral slips in the car lanes that would read "Zykas wears pantyhose", etc....something that cracked one up at O-Dark-Thirty, when all was quite and very serious :) He was definetly a "clown" when a clown was needed. Rest In Peace my Friend, no longer shall the fumes turn your nostrils black!

I was an Academy Classmate of Mr. Zykas and I have had the privilege to have him be a part of my life for 14 years. He never complained and was always in a great mood who made everyone's day a fun one. He was dedicated to his job and country. He served 20 years in the US Navy, and 14 years in the Federal Government as an Immigration Inspector and later as a Customs & Border Protection Officer. He is a great man, who will be greatly missed by many people who were lucky enough to have known him. Rest in Peace My BROTHER.
