Your heroism and service is honored today, the 87th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Your sacrifice was made so many years ago. Rest In Peace

Patrolman Mercer, I cruise that area constantly and know how tough an area it is, no doubt WORSE when it was your beat. You did all you could for the people of the Commonwealth and I wish to thank you for that. I'm just sad it too this long for you to be honored here.
God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

May your service always be remembered. Like all Mets before you and those that followed including this retired former motorcycle officer who patroled the same roadways where you lost your life protecting the residents of Massachusetts. Rest in peace brother.

For Patrolman Fred G. Mercer:
The motor officer's duty takes him onto one of the most dangerous battlefields - a United States Highway. It was as hazardous in the twenties as it is today. Our brother Fred courageously patrolled on two wheels and accepted the challenge of danger and death. We regret that he was not able to finish his career, but we celebrate his dedication to others and champion his service.
We pray for his family who exist today, and all who remember him and we profoundly hope that they share in our pride and honor him as reverently - he was a Metropolitan police officer and a soldier of the law.
I am proud render Patrolman Fred Mercer a final salute.
