Reflections for Natural Resources Officer Luke Douglas Nihart
Thinking of and missing you on your 34th birthday my son. Your son and daughter are growing like weeds and just as precious as they can be. I thank God every day that you gave us Keri, Hunter and Brooke. We will always do our best to help look after them.

Luke will be missed. We were in the same class at kletc. I always enjoyed his sense of humor. He was quick with a smile and a joke, but was very commited to what he did.
God Bless to you all

I got to know Luke for a short time while he was my roommate at KLETC. He could light up a room just by walking in and always could be counted on to do whatever needed to be done to lighten up the mood. RIP Luke, thank you for your service and may God open up the gates of Heaven for you.

To the family and friends of Officer Luke Nihart and his fellow officers:
On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Luke was tragically killed.
To Officer Nihart's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Luke gave to his community and the citizens of Kansas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 26, 2010.
