Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Reserve Deputy Sheriff Henry Jorden Willeford

Deputy "Hank" Willeford, I remember the night of the incident well as I was off duty and just like "Hank" and I jumped in my patrol car to help in any way I could. I ended up answering calls and had to run code through the accident scene to an active shooting call while others were working the scene and helping "Hank". As a younger officer I would often catch "Ole Hank" watching my traffic stops if I was near his home. He would often watch over me until the completion of my stops and then drive up and tell me that if anything went bad he would be there to get my six. "Hank" was one of the good guys.

Dad,

I have tried many times to leave a reflection here and could not because of my heart aching, tears flowing and having to accept that you are gone. You taught me to be strong and fair. You taught me to stand up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves. You made a difference in many lives. You have always been and always be my hero. I love you and miss you.

Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace
