Reflections for Police Officer James David Bonneau
Officer Bonneau,
Even though I did not know you, I feel like I did, one of my best friends worked with you, and we share the brotherhood of wearing the badge! Even though I am an officer out in the east coast, when I heard that an officer from Jackson MI lost his life in the line of duty in roll call, I immediately called my friend who works with your agency. I know how it is too lose a great friend, and I was able to speak to the officer, and he told me great things about you! We will always have that connection! To this day I wear the bracelet you department made to honor you, and have a sticker with your name and badge number hanging up in my locker, at work next to the picture of my best friend who also lost her life in the line of duty as well. This year I ran the national law enforcement 5k run in honor of you and my friend! You will never be forgotten, and to officers from Jackson MI PD if you are ever down for police week let me know would love to be your personal tour guide, and show you the memorial! Ask Chuck he has my info!

Jim,
I can't believe it's going to be 2 years on Friday. It was 2 years ago last week since I last saw your smiling face in detail. You were hugging me goodbye and wishing me luck with my new job. You had that trademark smile of yours on your face. I couldn't have asked for a better last memory of you. You are miss buddy, yesterday, today, and always.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Bonneau, especially to his fiancée. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for James, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember James' life and the MAN that he was. Remember that James' life was about so much more than the way he died. James will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Officer Bonneau, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been seven years and a half years but he's still very much missed and forever loved.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

To the family and friends of Officer James Bonneau and his fellow officers:
On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when James tragically died.
To Officer Bonneau's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service James gave to his community and the citizens of Michigan, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 9, 2010.

May you RIP Officer Bonneau and know that many of the citizens of Michigan and across the country are remembering you and your sacrafice each and every day. You truly are a HERO in every sense of the word! I know that your family, friends and co-workers think of you each and everyday and I also know what a great sense of loss they feel as I lost a dear friend/brother Shane Britton, EOW 07-19-2000 who also was a Michigan Officer in Cass County. Your name is often spoken with love, I'm sure. The days get easier but the sadness of loss and the things that you should be here for never really go away fully.
To the many friends, family and co-workers of Officer Bonneau, please know that you are not alone in your sadness and grief...the citizens of Michigan lost a great Officer the day that he was taken from us and many of us will continue to hold you and your family in our hearts as you go through this journey. Please know that he will always be remembered as a Hero and his service is greatly appreciated. Time may go on, hearts may heal, but memories will last a lifetime. Cling to the good times and know that he is watching over each and every one of you from that big Department in the sky!

I came across your name among the many pages of heroes and wanted to stop and leave a short note. I know the daily struggle all your loved ones face as I walk in their shoes. The first thought they have each morning when they awake to face another day is of you and the last thought of the day before drifting off to sleep at night is of you. You will never be forgotten Contiue to keep watch over all of your loved ones. Guide them as they walk through life. You are a true hero and heroes never die.
