Although I relocated several years ago, I still consider Oconee County my home and am deeply moved and hurt to learn of this very unfortunate accident. The citizens of Oconee County have lost a dedicatated guardian who was willing to lay down his life in order to keep them safe. May your loved one's keep their fondest memories of you close to their hearts now and always.

Bill, you are gone but never forgotten. I will forever remember the good times we shared with our squad mates on 2B. I remember the night we were out on foot patrol looking for a good arrest and found the homeless family sleeping in their car. We took them to the Super 8 and got the kids some food. The other time I remember is going to a domestic and having to fight with the guy to take him into custody. You got onto me for not waiting for back up because I had just scolded you for the same thing a few days prior. It was a pleasure to serve with you brother and you will never be forgotten. I am better for having known you, even if only for alittle while.

I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has chosen for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I've now found peace at the end of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Oh yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
Look for the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all to brief;
Don't lengthen your pain with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,
God wanted me now-He set me free

Durham Police Department

I lost my husband, Deputy David Blake, on October 3, 2009 so I can sympathize with everything you're going through. I share your pain and want you to know that you and your unborn baby are in my thoughts and in my prayers. Hold on to your memories...keep them close to your heart; share them with your child when he/she is old enough to know that their Daddy was a hero. Draw strength from your law enforcement family...you will be each other's greatest comfort. Rest in Peace Deputy Schuck. Your earthly watch has ended and your watch in Heaven has begun.
