I worked with Leonard (Sandy) Wall for a few years while he was working for the Arkansas Department of Corrections at the Pine Bluff Unit. As I recall, he was in charge of the "Issuance Department".

Sandy was always fair, firm and consistant in all work. He maintained a positive and professional demeanor at all times and kept the respect of the inmate population as well as the other security staff.

I believe that I am a better person and a better supervisor for having known Sandy and his nephew, Harold, who was my Sergeant for while at the same unit.

My prayers go out to the Wall family and the staff at the Juvenile Facility. We will all miss him greatly. He was truely a point of light for us all.

This is tragic and disgusting. I want to thank you for your service not only to your community but to the entire country. I know well how often the public overlooks what corrections officers / detention officers / detention deputies and the like do on a daily basis, let alone the dangers they face.

You have made the ultimate sacrifice, and nothing I can say will make it better. My thoughts are with your family, friends, co-workers, agency, and entire community.

I will refrain from commenting on my thoughts concerning those responsible.

From a former Juvenile Detention Officer, Thank you sir for our service and sacrifice. Most have no idea the danger there is working with juveniles. Even Management sometimes ignores the safety of officers in this line of work. There is so much anger in my heart towards the cowardly men that did this to you and your partner. RIP brother
