I lost my deputy, my husband David Blake to an automobile accident while on duty October 3, 2009. I can understand and empathize with what you're going through. Please rely on his law enforcement family to help you...you will be each other's greatest strengths. I pray for both families, at work and at home, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Rest in Peace and God Speed Deputy Bernard.

I spent many shifts with this man, trained him and enjoyed having him in my car. He was a good deputy and while he moved to a career in Washington State, I managed to keep in loose contact with him. He worked so hard to get this position and I know he cared a great deal about his community. The world is a lessor place today... My Facebook thin blue line memorial stands posted now for Deputy John Bernard, former Yamhill County Oregon Sheriff Reserve and Deputy Sheriff with Grant County Washington Sheriff's Office... You will be missed my friend. May God guide you and comfort your family in this time.
