For Deputy Sheriff Kent Mundell:

The response to a domestic argument for any law officer is one of the most unpredictable, if not dangerous, calls he or she will make. What awaits is anything from a light counseling session to a full-blown battle for his or her life.

For Kent this call was the worst. It cost him his life. But not before he acted as a well-trained and disciplined law officer who has supremely demonstrated an incredible will to survive. It takes super-strength, overwhelming discipline and sheer guts to face fire and return fire in any such situation. It takes a super-hero like Kent - a model for all who wear a badge.

We are thankful for all those who aided Kent at the scene and pray that they recover from the wound to the mind and well as the flesh.

We pray for Kent, his family, his friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they in time be given some understanding of what is hardly to be understood. Each of them remembering him for only the best of impressions he ever made on their lives. May they be ready in due time to reach out to one another in the most loving and beneficial way. And, may the terror of this day be eventually replaced by a will to go on, and to succeed, that Kent would surely have desired for each of them.

As a retired PA state trooper and FL deputy sheriff, I am proud to render Deputy Sheriff Kent Mundell a final salute.

You put up a good fight Kent.. Your service is appreciated. At least you got the suspect in return fire so that he may not harm anyone else. Rest easy.

My heart breaks for your family as they had to spend the holidays wondering if you would make it & then to lose you. Way to go for fighting to the very end and getting your man! I pray the Lord will wrap his loving arms around your family and carry them through the difficult and often lonely days ahead. There are many survivors out here praying for them. I also will keep all the LEO's in Washington in my prayers as they have lost so many recently. Thanks Deputy Mundell for giving your life to save others!
