May you, the Brenton family, know that you are in my prayers and thoughts as this first anniversary of Officer Brenton's shooting death is upon us. The two children that have been left in your care need to know what an outstanding man their father was and that his memory will live for ever in the hearts and minds of those he touched and even those who did not personally know him. Approaching the one year anniversay of Timothy Brenton's death, It hit home when this tradgedy hit, and will continue to do so in the years ahead. Tim,
I wanted to give this some time before attempting to write a fitting reflection of you. I thought that some time would provide more clarity. However, no amount of time will explain why some bad people do what they do. It seems that too often the very best of us are the ones who are taken. You were my friend, my brother-in-arms. More importantly, you were a husband and father, a son and a brother. I know you can see that all the love that you gave has multiplied. Your life of duty, courage and honor lives on and is an inspiration to all of us who remain here. We will carry on, taking you and your memory with us.

I lived in LaConner at the same time he was an officer there. He had the best sense of humor. You could tell he truly enjoyed his job. I just wish that these criminals would realize that they are not just killing an officer. They are killing dads, moms, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles. The uniform does not define them. It is their profession, not their life. My condolences to his wife (Who is another hero in light of the Lakewood shootings, his children, his extended family and his fellow officers. I have friends in the small town I live in now that are police officers and this and the Lakewood murders have affected everyone. God Speed Officer Brenton. "Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets. You already did your time in Hell."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
