Today, in my sociology class, we were talking about fallen deputies-Etheridge came to my mind! In my small group later I explained that day when I heard the news, everybody was either crying or looking at me with a face of sympathy! I was a Sheriff Cadet at the time and had rode with Etheridge a few times. Each time I learned something new, or got clearification over something! He was a great Mentor!

Etheridge ever since you passed, everyday I think of the ultimate sacrifice you made, and how you went to work everyday fighting evil of the world, promoted peace, and lead a life that somebody like me could follow! You have made me want to become a law enforcement officer that much more! Thank you!

Dear Brian,
In one week it will be 2yrs since the day you took your place in Heaven. You stood tall and protected our families from the evils of this world, now you are standing next to God, protecting Heavens Gates from the same. Know that we still pray for your family each and every day. We miss you, your smile and the good feelings we all had when you were around. One day we will meet again and we all know that when that day comes, you will be there for us. To greet us with that smile of yours and to let us know, (as you always have), that everything will be alright.

Thank you for all that you have done for us young man and thank you for watching over us and keeping us safe.

God Bless

Brian, I think of you often. I would have taken your place if I could have. For some reason things happened the way they did, but you did what most Sedgwick County Sheriff Deputies would do, you fought. You are a hero and we will never forget.

I heard your dad's story this morning on K Love. What a great testimony. As someone who also lost my love in the line of duty four years ago, I can relate to the overwhelming grief and pain you are going through. I can also relate to the unexplainable peace and grace that only God can provide. Although everyday is difficult, these anniversaries are unbearable as we re-live the day you were taken. Know that you are not alone in your walk. Thinking and praying for you and your family espicially today.
