Reflections for Police Officer John Pawlowski

Your family will never understand why this had to happen to you, but they do know you are a HERO and you will always be in their hearts. I am sorry you had to make the ultimate sacrifice. You gave up your life to protect the lives of others. I pray your family finds peace.

I read with such sadness the notes on your site. We too lost a loved one Robert Stanze, EOW 8/8/00 whose wife was pregnant with twins at the time of his senseless death.
While the pain never goes away, the children are now 8 years old, happy, healthy and being told wonderful stories about the father who was never able to meet them.
I pray that your family and friends find some peace in the days ahead and that your wife delivers a healthy baby in your honor...she will never be alone as she will always have a sea of blue to love and protect her. God Speed Officer Pawlowski, God Speed!

Baby, I know you can't read this now, but when you are older and wish to know more about your daddy and come here, I want you to know that, even though I didn't know him, your daddy was a hero, and I know this. I also know that he loves you now and forever.

Sometimes I don't know what to say - this is one of those times. Officer Pawlowski, thank you for caring as much as you obviously did to work in a very difficult city. I know Philadelphia scares many. I wish it were safer...and I know you did, too. You did your best to help, and from the sound of your write-up, so does your family. You are all admirable. You will be in my thoughts and memories as I ride around Philadelphia on my bicycle reflecting on the neighborhood. You are one of the many reasons I give a little smile to the officers I pass. Your child will know what a hero you were, and I wish more than anything you were still around to tell him or her yourself. Thank you...thank you, and your family.

John and I went through the academy. I can honestly say that he was one of the nicest and funniest kids I've ever known. NO matter what the situation, this was the guy to make light of it and turn a smile. I will truely miss him.

I AM A WARRIOR
—by Jon F. Hooper
I stand with God. I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary.
I fight for those who can’t. I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the downtrodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, for I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing, for it was my honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy:
For now, I stand with God!
