Reflections for Captain Thomas Paul Tennant

Hey Capt., I remember times walking through the WPD while you issued me my various patrol equipment. I was the new guy on the block. You were always professional and truly deserved your title...Our department fell apart when you were taken. You are truly missed. Rest in peace brother...

Tom, what can I say here that really reflects how I feel about you? You were my FTO, My sergeant, and then when I was promoted to Chief, my Captain and confidant, but above all that you were always my friend. There was nothing that you would not do for me if asked. More than once your advice kept me out of trouble. You and Charlie were the perfect team of commanders, any chief would have been lucky to have you two. I consider myself lucky to have known you and worked with you for 20 years, which was way too short a time as I look back on it. I am proud to have stood beside you that fateful night, like we did many others, I just wish that things had ended differently and you were with us today. But, perhaps GOD needed you elsewhere, but I won't know until we meet again. Rest easy Tom, you have faithfully completed your shift and we have the watch now, we will watch over your beloved family and do our best to help them. GOD bless you my dear friend and comrade in arms.

I miss seeing you in your office when I come to work everyday. I miss your "one liners" that always kept me going when things got rough. I miss your insight when I had to make a tough decision. I miss hearing your laugh. I miss you when we're at Starbucks. I miss watching you fall asleep in boring meetings. Most of all, I miss you buddy.

Capt. Tennant:

While our paths never crossed and I never had the pleasure of meeting you personally, a person learns a lot about a man from his son. I had the pleasure of getting to know your son through Blanchet football. He is a wonderful young man, with a great attitude. You clearly were a great father and role model. My deepest sympathies to the entire Tennant family. My heart aches for you all.

You served well. Rest in peace Captain.

Tom,
Although our work circles never connected, I was able to know you through our son's baseball team at Blanchet. I was working when I heard about the incident you and Bill were involved in. I didn't want to believe it. It still is hard to believe. Although the people responsible have been caught, it still doesn't take the pain away. Your Law Enforcement family will be here to help your family. We've got it from here. Thanks for all you did in your community. You will be missed greatly but not forgotten. Rest easy, Tom
