Though time goes on, little has changed regarding the memories that were made with you in our past lives. I cherish the times that I stopped by your house and sat on the tailgate with you watching the traffic. The times that I was most down and discouraged, you were the strength and encouragement that I had learned to count on. You could not have been a better leader, teacher, and supervisor. You never gave me an answer or issued orders. You gave out assignments and steered us to the knowledge that placed us on the right track that you wanted us to follow.

Beyond being a Supervisor, you were a true friend. A true giant in the person of a man.

There never has been nor will there ever will be another like you though in my own way I try very hard to be like you as much as I can. Though you are gone, I am sure that much of you remains in those who knew you as I did.

Somehow we made it through the first year without you. All of your friends and family worked together to put on a "feed" at the farm in your honor on the 27th. There was quite a turn-out even though the invites were last minute and from personal calls and word-of-mouth. I have always known how special you were to me. I found that everyone else feels exactly the same about you. You are our hero. You touched so many lives in a positive way. So many things come to me about you by chance and from the most unexpected places. I am so proud of you. No one ever knows how one's actions and deeds will affect the lives of others and I wish I could tell you how you have in person. Your integrity , your tenacity, your many kind deeds and the change you made in Trinity County in six months are quite a legacy. Most of all Dad, your friends and the people I meet, tell me how thankful they were that you came home to run for Sheriff, after retiring from serving so many years in Law Enforcement. They voted for you because you were honest, experienced, fair and genuine. You have always known the risks and you have always been compelled and honored to serve. We are establishing a memorial fund in your honor to help with specialized Law Enforcement Training, Continuing Education and the ever changing equipment needs for Law Enforcement Officers in Trinity County. You are always in my heart, Dad. Thanks.
