This is my great granddad and I have a painting of him and full newspaper article of this shooting passed down to me from my mom. This was my dads granddad. I'd be interested in seeing this erected.

• THE ENTERPRISE •

The White Memorial the movement to erect a suitable shift to the memory of the lamented Captain W. R. While, who on August 15th, 1911 was shot down by Brad Bagley, and died a martyr to the cause of good government, has not to this time reached that point which the citizens of the town desired. The failure has not been from a lack of appreciation or indifference, but because of a failure to collect the proposed funds. Some people paid at once and these funds are in hand, and now it is desired to secure the full amount and erect the memorial in the near future. A shaft to the memory of Captain White will not only show how men who die for duty's sake are esteemed but will also tell to the present and future generations that the citizens of Williamston stand tor law and order. Wheeler Martin, Jr. has the list of subscribers to the fund and is interesting himself in the movement. Those who have not contributed and desire to do so, can hand the amount to him and receive credit for same on the list of donors.

* I am considering an attempt to have this memorial erected after over 100 years ...if i can find the resources. If anyone is interested please contact me.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 102nd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Chief White,
It has taken over 97 years, but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Williamston. It took another year, but your murderer finally got the justice that he deserved.
