Reflections for Police Officer Charles Benjamin Skinner

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately, our law enforcement family has also suffered this type of loss, it is heartbreaking.
I know you will be watching over your family and giving them the strength, courage and love to move thru this tragedy.
Rest in peace, your brothers and sisters in blue will continue the 'watch' and you will forever be remembered and loved.

Officer Skinner,

I want to thank you for all of your sacrifices. I live near the scene of this crime and am grateful as a citizen to you for your efforts in protecting my family and I.

I am grateful as an officer for the way you lived your life and the example you are to me. The statement your father-in-law/fellow officer touched me deeply, "He felt like he had the perfect life."

My deepest condolences to your family and newborn twins.

God's speed my friend. We have the watch from here.

My heart goes out to your loved ones Officer Skinner, both your immediate family and your police family. It matters not 6 months or 26 years, this pain is still the same. I grieve for your wife and two tiny babies. No one should have to endure this pain.

A note to your department....reach out to Mrs Skinner and keep your promises to her. When a little time passes she will need you to be there for her to tell their babies what kind of a true HERO their daddy is.

Rest peacefully Officer Skinner. You will never be forgotten.

My heart is with you all. This is the finest police department and to think he's down is so sad. 4 month old twins! I live on Lacey Way and may even have heard the sirens last Monday. It's just so awful and many of you are my friends. You've looked after me in so many ways over the years. Thanks to Officer Skinner and his family for protecting us. Thanks to you all.

Rest in Peace Brother, your time and service was to short. Tell my future Son-in law Josh Norris EOW 07/05/2007 hello and have him show you around. My prayers are with your family during this dark time, but you will have your day, a day that you richly deserve, too many police cars to count, with lights blazing and sirens screaming escorting you. Hundreds of your brothers will stand at attention saluting you and the citizens of your community will shed tears. A 21 gun salute will sound out in respect for you and heart numbing Taps" will be played for you while your family receives a flag. There will not be a dry eye left from both your family and police family near and far. Saint Michael the chief of police in heaven will greet you at the pearly gates and welcome you to Saint Peter's district. You will never be forgotten and your strength and courage will live on to inspire every new deputy that takes up the call of the profession and your sacrifies will be remmebered through out the nation with every police officer. You got the call, you gave your all, and it was more than enough. So prop your feet up and take a load off up there and keep an ear to the radio so that when another of our brother's number is called you can meet them at the gate with a cup of coffee and a smile. Oh and put in a good word for me up there, I like the day watch and make sure my boy Josh is not sleeping the time way.

Officer Skinner's Family
Your complete family are in my families prayers during this dark time. Charles was taken to early and should of have had more time with you guys. I know words at this time will never stop the hurt, but know your Husband and Dad is not far from you, he is the whisper in the wind, that feeling of being hugged when no one is there, he will always be at your side watching over ever accomplishment and catching ever tear that you guys shed. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, his smile and all those things that are unique to him, since they are truly what made him. He is a true hero in every sense of the word and your police family extends it arms to you, if this one from Louisiana can do anything do not hesitate to ask. God bless you and may he give you strength.

Policeman's Prayer

When I start my tour of duty God
wherever crime may be,
As I walk the darkened streets alone,
let me be close to Thee.

Please give me understanding
with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention
until their story's told.

Let me never make a judgement
in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience,
let each man have his say.

Lord, if some dark and dreary night,
I must give up my life.
Lord, with your understanding love,
protect my children and wife.
