I can't believe its been a year. You should still be here. But like a fellow officer said, our loss is heaven's gain.
It's been a pleasure to get to know your family.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

To your family: I understand the meaning of lives forever altered, and know that the hurt of losing a beloved never goes away...the pain and pride are forever. I pray for your solace.

Rest In Peace, Shane.

Shane,

Your legacy still lingers in the halls of the South Mountain Precinct. Everyone who was a part of the SMP family feels it. Thank you for all you did to make where we all live a greater and richer place. As I watch over my baby girl, I feel sadness because I know Shane you won't be there physically for yours. The pink girly room, cute little outfits, watching potty time with elmo and all the other creatures on sesame street. But I also feel your daughter with be strong and empowered growing up knowing her daddy was a great man who stood up for what is right. I can't imagine a better role model to set for your child than that. Shane, if I ever meet your little girl, I will tell her that her daddy was a true hero, and for her to be proud of you.

In my tradition we say the following:

May the Lord guide you and keep you,
May the Lords face shine brightly upon you and be gracious unto you,
and may the Lord lift up his face to you, and grant you peace.

I am proud to say that when I knew Police Officer Shane Cory Figueroa I worked at the Phoenix Police Academy. Officer Figueroa was a fine and upstanding recruit and at the very beginning of his career. He showed that he represented the very essence of honesty and integrity of the Phoenix Police Department. I am a better person to have known him and can proudly say that it was an honor and privilege to have known him for the short time he was a recruit and officer. My condolences go out to his wife, child and family. Officer Shane Cory Figueroa, the sun does not shine as bright as it once did before. May your family find honor and peace. Your halo shines bright over your family keeping them safe and when they look up at the stars, your star shines the clearest and brightest. You are truly an angel with the brightest halo for all to see. You truly will be missed by everyone you knew and helped. We humbly and respectfully thank you for the greatest gift that you could possibly give to humanity. Amen and may your walks with god bring you peace and harmony.

To the Figueroa family. I wanted so much to be at the sign dedication but duty calls and I will be in Texas. Shane gave the ultimate sacrifice and the memorial sign proves that he will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. See you soon. Earl

God Bless you Officer Figueroa and your beautiful family.
Our loss is Heavens gain, and you will forever be missed in all of our hearts. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends, especially your baby girl who was never given the chance to know how much of a hero her daddy really was. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and we will always remember you for your undenying bravery. I know you're up there in Heaven still watching over the world and keeping everyone safe. It saddens me that you were taken so soon, but may you rest in peace and God Bless. The Phoenix Police Department will never, ever forget you.
