Dearest Tommy, just found out today about your passing. Been out of the country off and on the last few years. We'll never forget you, brother. You made me laugh so much in the worst of times. You were an excellent investigator and even better person. You are greatly, sorely, sorely missed. You left this world helping people which is the ultimate service. I'm sure you're giving God a laugh now as well. RIP and my heartfelt condolences and prayers go out for the Keen family. God speed.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA poolice officer.
Thank you also for your service to our country during your two Vietnam tours.
To his wife, I can see from your reflection how much you and miss your husband. You are in my heart's embrace today.
Rest In Peace

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Detective Keen. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Tommy, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Tommy's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Tommy's life was about so much more than the way he died. Tommy will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Detective Keen, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost seven years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

I'm just now writing this to you Darling today is July 21st 2009 many Holidays have come and gone and I just keep waiting for you to walk through the door all scraggily from being at the deer lease. You always made such a big deal of my Birthday which has just passed, I think that's when it finally registered with me, I would never see you again in this life. You are everything all these reflections have said and so much more. I am so blessed of GOD to have had you in my life for almost 30 Wonderful years. Not long enough.I don't know why you left before me. I will never understand why, My Darling what happened?? I've been sitting at the computer for hours trying to get a few words in, I thought I could finally do this but I'm almost drowning in my tears. You are the Best HUSBAND, FATHER, Son, Brother, Uncle etc... I could go on and on and one day you will be the Best Grandfather Angel in Heaven. You are the Love of My Life and always will be. I could have never imagined feeling so loved until I met you. You made me feel like I was the prettiest woman in the room even when it was full of beauty queens. I've been told by so many people that GOD doesn't make mistakes, I can't imagine GOD needing you more than I do. I know I'm not suppose to question but I ask him everyday. I've been told I must go on with my life, I'm doing the best I can. I'm breathing but it's labored. I'm not afraid of death anymore knowing I have you to come to. I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH.

I have spent many years taking my kid to the skating Rink Mr. Keen was always there every Friday night Rain or Shine. Mr. Keen and I were both 59 and Vietnam Vets, so we always had things to talk about. Every time I go to the Rink I cannot stop of thinking of Mr. Keen. He was my Friend and a friend to a lot of kids at the Rink. God Speed my Friend. And to His Son and Wife he was a man of Great Integrity & Character. Always remember that he will be missed but never Forgotten. Thanks for looking after my kids.

Tommy and I worked together for several years. I first met Tom while working Patrol in District 2 in 1980. I had the good fortune of working with Tommy on a couple of cases and found out what a dedicated person and policeman he was. Tom was awarded Detective of the Year in 1981 by the 100 Club of Houston and because of some great creative writing by Tommy Thomas, who was my Captain at the time, and because of the great work that Tommy did on the cases that we worked, I was given the award for Patrolman of the Year the same year. I have to say that being honored with someone of the calibre as Tommy Keen was something that I will always cherish. I later worked with Tom as a Detective and his dedication never waivered. Tom was a good, honest, quiet hardworking man and because he was so quiet and unassuming no one really knows what a hero he actually was. From his two combat tours in Viet Nam to his 35 year career in law enforcement, Tommy was a man among men and will always be revered by me as well as others that knew him. Rest in peace Tom, I look forward to seeing you again.

It was truly sad to see this happen to a man that would bend over backwards for anyone who needed help, on or off the job!! I is also very sad to see that not one employee at the Harris County Sheriff's Office wrote any type of reflection for Detective Tommy Keen. This is a man that gave his life to this Department without hesitation and in exchange they gave nothing. This is a great man that was destined for a great retirement and it was all cut short due to a unbelievable accident. I only hope and pray that his legacy will not be forgetton any time soon.
God bless you and your family.
Rest in peace brother, we will take it from here !!

Detective Tommy Keen, your life, service, and the sacrifice you made so that others could be safe are shining examples to those you leave behind.
Being so close to retirement, you could easily have stayed at home and let younger officers take the risks; but you did not pull back from doing your duty. Would that all men were as brave and selfless as you proved yourself to be.
Rest in peace - grateful citizens thank you for your service, and your brothers will take the watch from here. You will not be forgotten.
To the Keen family - There are no words that will make it right, or bring him back; but you should know that we stand beside you in grief, and lift you up in prayer, asking the God of all comfort to minister to you in this time of your great need.
