Thoughts with Brian, Whitney and the rest of the family at this difficult time.

"Many tender memories soften your grief,
May fond recollection bring you relief,
And may you find comfort and peace in the thought
Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought...
For time and space can never divide
Or keep your loved one from your side
When memory paints in colors true
The happy hours that belonged to you".

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man/woman they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Fairbanks. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Kristine, she sounds like she was a great woman with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew her in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Kristine's life and the WOMAN that she was. Remember that Kristine's life was about so much more than the way he died. Kristine will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember her.

Officer Fairbanks, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost seven years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Dear Kris,

I went to fair with Lola. She did great. We got blues in everything except for Rally, which we got a white in, and Obedience, which we were dq from. It wasn't her fault, though, and you would've agreed. All in all, it was a ton of fun, & she loved the petting bench. But you should've been there to see us. You should've. We miss and love you always, Kris!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Fairbanks and we honor her distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Fairbanks, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with her when she walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that she will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Fairbanks is distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It was their duty to serve; it is ours to remember.

I was training at FLETC when you made the ultimate sacrifice. I will never forget your dedication to our profession, and your brave and courageous stand against those who would hurt the innocent..May God keep you, Bless You and your family , and hold you all in the Palm of His Hand....

I'm missing you especially bad right now, Kris... Wish you could have seen me & Lola at Summer Classics. It was so much fun. She thinks she's a lap dog & would sit on my lap when I sat on the ground. Then I would use her for a pillow. Very comfy. We got Reserve Champion in Rally. i could go on for hours, but really, I can sum it up in four words: I miss you soooooooo much.

Love you soooooooooooooo much, Kris. I'll never forget you.

I wanted to stop in and leave a short poem to let you know that you have not been forgotten.

Poem by Richard Fife:

No person is ever truly alone.
Those who live no more,
Whom we loved,
Echo still within our thoughts,
Our words, our hearts.
And what they did,
And who they were,
Becomes a part of all that we are,
Forever.

Kris-I wish you were in court today to see our guy sentenced. You would have been so proud. We would definitely have celebrated. I miss you so much.

I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...

It has happened, so
We will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...

Love you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much Kris. Thnks for EVERYTHING!

My thoughts go out to all of your loved ones and close friends during this very trying time. Keep watch over all of them, wrap your wings around them and protect them from harm. Come to them in their dreams so they feel your presence and know you are watching over them. You are a true hero.

Kris, I miss you so much. I think of you every day, and every time I see a police officer I think of you and pray for them. Brian and Whitney are always in my thoughts and prayers. I'm still working Monster Dog, but have also found a better behaved dog to take to fair. All in all, I guess I'm okay... But I miss you so bad.

I love you so much,
Kristen

You Taught Me

You taught me
Everything I know
You taught me
How to grow

You taught me
How deeply I can love
You taught me
To dream big

You taught me
How to let go of hate
You taught me
TO put my all into what I do

You taught me
How to forgive
You taught me
How to live

Kris,

I am presently going over some documents and photos that you sent to me in order to help my career along. Seeing these, as well as talking to some of your FS Co-workers makes me remember how special you are in our hearts and how much you are missed. I hope to somehow carry on your legacy in the agency and keep your memory strong. You are missed and your family is in our hearts.
