Reflections for Officer Kristine Marie Fairbanks

My prayers go out to Kris's family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers. We have been blessed by the presence of Kris in our lives and for that we will always be greatful. Kris possessed an unending dedication and enthusiasm for her job and earned the respect of her peers as a true professional. Her smile and sense of humor were as noteable as her commitment to the mission of the U.S. Forest Service. She served with honor and distinction and will be missed by every one of us who were touched in such a positive way by her presence. Go in peace now and know that you and your family are held tightly in God's hands. You will always be remembered and loved by your brothers and sisters in the Law Enforcement community.

My heart breaks for Officer Fairbank's family. May you know the peace and love of our Lord, Jesus, at this very difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Lord, please bless this family and comfort them. Surround them with love and support as they grieve the tragic loss of your child, Kristine. Heal their hearts and let them know how very much they are loved. Amen.

I've worked with FS LEOs - they are the best. There are no words - this is so senseless. My heart goes out to the family and especially Kris' daughter.

My thoughts and prayers are with Kristine, her family, her faithful K-9 partner, Radar and those who knew her. As a former ANF dispatcher, I worked daily with LEO's like Kristine. I was always aware of the danger they put themselves in even knowing backup could be hours away. God speed Kristine, you will never be forgotten.

Words cannot adequately express how sorry I am for the tragic loss of Officer Kristine Fairbanks. The depth of your sorrow, loss, and heartache are felt and shared by all who work in law enforcement. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Fairbanks and the entire Forest Service family. Once again, the law enforcement community mourns the senseless loss of a fellow officer. That same community is extremely proud of her brave actions and years of dedication to public service. Officer Fairbanks, watch over us and rest easy. We have the watch.

Dear Brian and Whitney,

Kris will be deeply missed by all of us in Bremerton Communications. I could always tell that she was smiling and was happy. It seemed like when ever she would pick up the mic to talk on the radio, that Radar would start barking in the background. When she would be working with Jennifer and or Anne and she would call into radio on the phone, she would be giggling so much that she couldn't talk. I will miss her voice on the radio and I will miss our conversations together.

If I could have changed the out come on Saturday I would have. That was the worst day of my life in dispatching in 22 years and it's a day I will never forget.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.

Washington State Patrol Dispatcher

Kris: I did not know you personally, but I knew your name. I was a K-9 handler in Region 8 before transferring to Nevada. We trained at the same school in Inidiana, at different times. We will miss your leadership in the K-9 program, and your professionalism in the field. Thank you for your service. Peace and strength to your family, and may God hold them close.

Kris, I will always remember our days as LEOs and especially the time with a bunch of inebriated and armed "visitors" near Packwood. Just as I was about to get in to the thick of it, I looked around and you were gone - because you were smart enough to take cover with the 12 gauge behind a huge Douglas Fir. I will never forget that single most definable sound of you chambering a round in to the 870 followed by "get on the ground" that resulted in immediate "voluntary" compliance of all. I thought to myself, now that is one tough lady! You literally saved my butt that day and probably on many other days. I am honored to have worked with you, to know you, and to be your friend.
